Manthey MR 30: two Porsches built around the circuit

Manthey celebrates thirty years with two editions of fifteen cars each. Unveiled at Hockenheim on 9 October, the MR 30 models place motorsport at the centre of the anniversary.

The 911: power, airflow and cooling

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup MR 30 is based on the 992.1 generation. Its 4.2-litre flat-six develops 560 PS, driving the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox. The programme combines this engine development with carbon bodywork, revised aerodynamics and cooling measures.

The appeal is in how these elements work together. More power alone cannot explain a car’s ability to complete lap after lap: the air that stabilises it and the air that carries heat away belong to the same engineering brief.

The Cayman: a different layout

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport MR 30 retains its mid-engined layout. Its 4.0-litre flat-six produces 500 PS and works with a seven-speed PDK gearbox. Lightweight construction and aerodynamic development are central to Manthey’s changes, which follow ten years of work on Cayman-based race cars.

This second model offers another way into the anniversary. Comparing the pair means considering layout, transmission and intended use alongside power. The specification is a starting point; the choice takes shape around the driver’s experience and planned track programme.

Thirty cars and an announced timetable

Manthey is accepting expressions of interest until 30 October 2026, ahead of allocation. Initial deliveries are planned for November for the Cayman and the first quarter of 2027 for the 911. An enquiry should therefore not be mistaken for a confirmed allocation.

For an enthusiast, the anniversary is an opportunity to examine two approaches to a Porsche race car. The most useful question is what kind of project the owner wants to build around it.
