Next summer, seen through autumn
Paris Womenswear Fashion Week takes place from 28 September to 6 October 2026. The collections are for Spring/Summer 2027: a future season introduced as the city moves into autumn.
That sense of looking ahead is part of fashion’s appeal. A silhouette, a fabric or an unexpected pairing of colours can invite a fresh look at the clothes you already wear. With the shows still to begin, the collections themselves remain to be discovered; declaring the season’s trends now would be premature.
Two perspectives from the previous spring–summer season
Before the spring–summer 2027 collections are unveiled, these archive photographs offer two examples of the range of ideas seen on Paris runways. Both show spring–summer 2026 collections; they do not document the forthcoming September–October 2026 edition.
At Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada explored women’s work through the apron, treating a familiar functional garment as a starting point for colour, texture and decoration.
Kiko Kostadinov took another approach to familiar pieces, playing with layered knitwear, pastel colours, outlined pockets and collars that fold over the shoulders. The pink look shown here gives those details a clear visual expression.
Use the calendar to explore
The official schedule brings together established houses and designers worth discovering. Christian Dior and Saint Laurent are among those scheduled for 29 September. Following a few creative worlds that interest you can be more rewarding than trying to keep up with every name.
You might focus on a cut, a use of volume or the way a garment moves. Scheduled digital broadcasts also offer a way to discover certain collections from a distance. Watching online and attending in person are different experiences, each with something to offer.
Fashion beyond the runway
SPHERE, the showroom organised by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, is scheduled at the Palais de Tokyo from 30 September to 6 October. Its selection of emerging labels is a reminder that the week also revolves around professional conversations about collections.
Victoria Valette is among the announced labels. Her work brings painting and clothing together, as illustrated by the presentation image chosen for this review copy.
That professional setting is different from an exhibition open to everyone. A personal stay can instead bring together boutiques, cultural visits and confirmed appointments, without needing to mirror the schedule of buyers or editors.
Leave time for Paris itself
A Fashion Week stay benefits from a little space between commitments. Returning to a favourite address, finding a new boutique or taking time over dinner gives the trip a personal dimension beyond the runway images.
The official calendar sets out access arrangements, including invitations and appointments. Being in Paris does not itself confer an invitation, and access should never be assumed. Once appointments are confirmed, accommodation, transport and restaurant reservations can be arranged around them, leaving some room for the unexpected pleasures of the city.
